APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITIES – LOCAL 669 SPRINKLER FITTERS

 

The Local 669 Joint Apprentice and Training Committee (JATC) conducts a five year apprenticeship program in all or part of 46 states for Sprinkler Fitters who are piping mechanics specializing in Fire Protection.  We have excellent insurance, pension and education plans.  The apprentice’s entry-level rate is based on a percentage of the journeyman rate of $35.14 per hour and may increase every six months if qualified.  The minimum qualifications for entry:

  1. Must be the age of f18 or over
  2. Must be a high school graduate or have G.E.D.
  3. Must be physically fit to perform the work of the trade.
  4. Must have military discharge under other than dishonorable conditions, if applicable.

 

Applications are obtained from contractors, and will be held on file until there is a need to interview applicants.  Mrs. Holdsworth has a list of Illinois Contractors, or call  800-638-0592.

PERFORMING and VISUAL ARTS  COLLEGE FAIR

 

College-bound high school students interested in pursuing undergraduate studies in the areas of music, dance, theater, visual arts, graphic design, photography, writing  and other related disciplines are encouraged to attend the National Association for College Admission Counseling’s (NACAC) Performing and Visual Arts College Fairs.  Admission is free and open to the public.   Attendees will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with admission representatives from institutions with these specialized programs.  There are 17 locations...the closest is Chicago on Saturday October 1l, at Northwestern University, 1:00 – 3:00 pm.  See Mrs. Holdsworth for more information, or go to www.nationalcollegefairs.org.
